Throughout Asia one of the most common sights in big cities is fruit vendors selling freshly cut fruit on carts. I love it. I’ve also gotten sick because of it because we are so well protected from the gazillion types of bacteria that everyone there is exposed to. So even though I love the fresh fruit cut on the side of the road I don’t suggest eating if you have been born and brought up in the overly sanitized suburbs of the American Midwest. That being said, just because you can’t eat it doesn’t mean you can’t be inspired by it. So buy the fruit whole and then do amazing things with it. Like create a sorbet.
These flavors are obviously tropical. They worked so well with this meal. The flavors were rich and exotic. Guavas and Bananas cream so well together. And the cardamom, which I use a whole lot in everything because its my favorite spice, just wakes the palate up which is exactly what this is supposed to do.
Guava Banana Cardamom Sorbet
Makes about one and a half quarts of sorbet
4 Cups of Pink Guava Juice
1/4 Tsp Cardamom Powder
Blend everything together and then run it through the ice cream maker! Woohoo! So simple. Want to make it even more simple? Use frozen bananas and throw it into the blender. Its just perfect.
